Anita Brunner

I grew up on the farm “Schöllen” in Degersheim, Switzerland. After school I graduated as a farmer and then completed a course to become a gardener. After half a year working as a gardener, I went to America for five years, which significantly shaped me as a person.
In 1994 I started to work on the family farm, as well as forming an alliance with an organisation that enabled handicapped people to take part in the farm work.

Upon my request, my father agreed to convert the business to produce organic goods. With the help from the handicapped helpers, the vegetable production had increased more and more and I wanted to directly market it.

In 1997 my father let me lease the farm, which meant I became a self-employed tenant farmer. Producing to organic standards was still a challenge at this point - everything had to align with the Bio-Suisse guidelines: all parts of the production, the keeping of the cows, horses, chickens and sheep, as well as the way in which the vegetables were grown.

Since then, many years have passed. Sometimes I lost sight of my goals, other times, I was working directly towards them. Much has happened in this time. Lots of it, very formative. The training I did with my first dog, Kira, is of special significance for my current work with the dogs. I certainly shed a few tears in the process, when things didn’t work out how I wanted them to. Now I know this was all part of the process. I was able to learn such a great deal with this dog – I visited several different dog schools and was able to gain a lot of knowledge from each one. One of these schools took a different approach to the rest - here I learnt to engage and communicate with the dog. Then, with a later dog – a pure bred Border Collie, I completed the ‘Dog Training for Trainers’ at NF.
In 2012 a further significant life event influenced the direction of the work I do today: I began to struggle more and more to complete my daily chores. I lost interest in getting up and out in the mornings and my dreams seemed to dwindle. I simply didn’t have the energy.

A light seemed to appear at the end of the tunnel, when a consultant who was treating me, recommended I go to an alternative therapy retreat.
This sounded great! But with all the animals and farm duties, I had no idea how it could realistically work? A solution was found though and just a few days later I was checking into the Casa Betulla retreat in the Tessin. Finally, I was able to take some time out, to get to the root of the problem.

Just one month later I was full of life again, feeling strong enough to return to the farm and armed with tools to overcome a crisis. I looked at a few issues square on. Made a couple of changes. And many problems were resolved.

In 2013 I completed a Burnout-Prophylaxis Trainer course, to help me understand, on a deeper level, what had occurred in my life. After enough time to digest and recover from my own process, I then found the strength to renovate the farmhouse and created several beautiful guest suites and a seminar room for courses.

Why not come on by and take a breather on my farm in order to return to your everyday life feeling recharged and well rested.

My ambitious personal and professional goals resulted in a burnout serval years ago. This initially led me to the MeHuNa farm as a guest, where I benefitted from Anita’s guidance, learnt a great deal about myself and how to make some simple, yet effective changes to successfully pursue my goals.

I then had the privilege of deepening my experience with an internship at MeHuNa from 2020-2021.

Although I am no longer on the farm, I continue to support the goings-on there in the background and gladly do so, whenever I can.

To all those looking to regain a handle on their own lives, with grounded, sound support, in a nurturing setting – I wholeheartedly recommend MeHuNa to you!
